The fourfold scheme of the canonical testimony about Jesus - the foundational tradition of the Christian church - has always been a provoking part of Christian tradition. In its apolology by Irenaeus (cca 180 AD) we have an early witness to the fact that it was taken as important and - at the same time - that it was not a matter of course, it had to be defended. The goal of this exegetical course is to pay a closer attention to this phenomenon and to find out what implications it has on our construals of the image of Jesus.
