The seminar will be based on reading and commenting on the book Introducing Eastern Orthodox Theology by a prominent British Orthodox Theologian Fr. Andrew Louth (SPCK, 2013). After an Introductory lecture on Modern and Postmodern Orthodox Theology in the West, students will follow the main theological themes, as addressed in the book, concept of theology in the Eastern Orthodoxy, understanding of God, of Creation, Christ, Sin, Anthropology, Sacraments and Icons, Time and Liturgy, and Eschatology. The lectures will be complemented by an excursion to one of the Orthodox Churches in Prague. Apart from preparing for each class by reading the selected text (the texts will be available on moodle), taking active part in commenting on the text during the seminar, students will be also asked to write a short essay on one of the specific themes, using also other sources.
