This course offers an introduction to the ancient Jewish literature from Hellenistic and Roman times. It concentrates on a closer inspection of the selection of texts from the Old Testament Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha and the Dead Sea Scrolls. The aim of the course is to introduce this large corpus of texts and the problems associated with their study, as well as to provide a close reading of specific texts (in English translations).
