MacIntyre: After Virtue (RETN50127/RETN50227) [26/27]

MacIntyre claims that modern moral language is a field of ruins: we go on using words such as duty, virtue and justice although the context in which they once made sense has broken apart. His counter-proposal is that a human life becomes intelligible only as a narrative — embedded in practices and traditions. We test this thesis and put the theological question back to it: who is it that tells the story of my life? And what becomes of an ethics of virtue where the Reformation says grace?
